Federation's SPSS Consortia Agreement Update
Released: 6/1/2007
I would like to take this opportunity to update you on our SPSS Consortia license agreement. The Federation and SPSS, Inc, a leading provider of predictive analytics software and solutions, have entered into a partnership to offer software discounts, through a consortium license, to institutions already utilizing SPSS services.

As you know, SPSS software has been used for more than 38 years by thousands of college and universities to strengthen internal operations. The key areas of use include:

1. Instruction
2. Administration
3. Institutional research
4. Survey research
5. Scientific research

The consortium license will permit Federation members (almost all of whom currently have SPSS licenses) to reduce annual fees paid to SPSS for existing services or expand SPSS product offerings without an increase in fees. This will be accomplished with a minimum of administrative time and costs.

Benefits of the contract include:

• Enterprise (unlimited) License covering installation in all university labs and university owned machines as well as office and home machines for faculty and staff for academic purposes;
• Student home use option;
• Expanded Windows module option;
• Centralized media distribution and tech support by each institution;
• Ability to choose Macintosh platform or Windows platform or both; and
• Expandable to include other SPSS products and services in the future
• A 10% discount on SPSS products such as mrInterview; Clementine, etc.

SPSS is prepared to ship one master set of media to a designated contact at your school, who will have the right to duplicate copies as per the terms of the license. Regular upgrades will be sent to the designated contact.

You have the option of maintaining your current license or taking advantage of the buying power of the centralized consortium license. (No additional credit will be given to any school that has purchased a license prior to this agreement as credits have already been taken into account and pricing offered is already discounted).

Important points:
• Yearly fees can increase a maximum of 10% per year
• All licenses are valid for one year from the date that the master license is signed.
• Pricing is based on several factors including the SPSS academic pricing schedule, credits, and the total aggregate enrollment of the participating institutions.
