SPRINGFIELD — A couple of weeks before Thanksgiving, David Tretter got a late evening call at work.
It was a Trinity Christian College student, questioning the announcement about its closing at the end of the school year, with administrators citing “fast-evolving economic and cultural realities,” among other factors.
Even though he didn’t know the student, Tretter, the president and CEO of the Springfield-based Federation of Independent Illinois Colleges and Universities, heard the disappointment — and the passion — in his voice.
